InuYasha News: Future Anime After 167 Confirmed

[edited July,24 ’09] added new info!
The anime was put at a stop at episode 167. It was not cancled or ended. What happend was that the producer quit, there was no replacement, and since they were catching up with the manga too fast they did not want to make fillers. So the anime has been put on limbo, neither ended nor cancled.

News has it that there will be new episodes of InuYasha anime after the manga is over. It was stated at an offical interveiw with the producer. They would probally have to come up with some kinda filler recap of the whole series to keep it’s pace. New episodes, if anime series, OVA or a movie is still up in the air but it is quite definete InuYasha will continue.

Currently the manga is ending in the final battle over Naraku & the completed jewel. According to Michihiko Suwa (the producer of Inuyasha from YTV-Japan) did state that “should” the anime series continue (after episode 167) there will be a strong likelyhood of future movies. Suwa, had stated a definite “yes” to more InuYasha animation in the future in responce to a member of the InuYasha Industry Panel who were waiting to see where the manga was going.

Luckily, the manga continues strong in Shonen Sunday magazine thats released on Wednesdays in Japan. With new chapters, new characters & an ever-folding action packed plot that changes every chapter! I strongly sugest reading the manga. It’s extremely good! ^_~

Inuyasha Kanketsu-hen to air on Japan’s YTV this fall

———— ——— ——— ——— ——— ——— –

This year’s 34th issue of Shogakukan’s Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine will announce next Wednesday that an Inuyasha Kanketsu-hen (Inuyasha Final Chapter) television adaptation of Rumiko Takahashi’s manga has been green-lit. The anime will broadcast on Japan’s YTV this  fall and cover the story in volumes 36 to 56 of the manga the final 21 compiled book volumes. The original staff and cast will reunite for the new anime adaptation. Shonen Sunday had promised earlier this month that it will be including a special news announcement about Inuyasha in issue #34. Takahashi had ended the Inuyasha manga in the same magazine last June. She has been serializing a new manga called RIN-NE (Kyôkai no Rinne) in the magazine as well as on TheRumicWorld. com website for North America readers since April 22. Viz Media has been releasing the Inuyasha manga in North America, and it has also released the original 2000-2004 television anime adaptation.

  4. Hey, I see you’ve recapped information I released after Animazement 2007, when I asked Michihiko Suwa, the producer of Inuyasha from YTV-Japan about additional episodes. Suwa-san was back at Animazement last month (May 2008) and gave some additional information. What he’s wanting is more televised episodes (as opposed to an OVA) and he’s hoping to get the same time-slot the series was originally in (although another series is currently at that time on his network). His main concern is wanting it to air during Japan’s “Golden hours” (more or less equivalent to US prime time on TV). They’re not ready to release specifics, including dates, but I have a feeling we’ll be hearing some type of official announcement soon, since the manga is going into its final two chapters.

Oh, and you have one bit of misinformation in your original post – the anime didn’t end at 167 because the producer quit. It was simply because they had run out of manga chapters to animate and didn’t want to flood the market with fillers, which can have a very negative impact on a series. Suwa-san will still be the producer, and the animation would be done at Sunrise studios.

Hey, and Yamaguchi Kappei, who does the voice of Inuyasha in the original Japanese, will be at Otakon this year (Baltimore, MD, August 8-10). I’ll be there, and putting on yet another Inuyasha panel, that’s for certain!i
